London: One month in…

Although the first two weeks here got off to a great start, I can’t exactly say the same for the last fortnight. Yes, things have taken a turn for the worst – okay maybe a slight exaggeration. It’s a big bad world out there and I have been the unfortunate one to experience it firsthand. I’ve given up on that Mayfair flat. So in answer to your dying question…NO I have not settled into a place where I can call home yet. When something sounds too good to be true…it more than likely IS! I learnt that the hard way! I guess I shouldn’t have put all my eggs into the one basket.

To add to my despair, I either had my phone stolen or lost it on a drunken rampage (I need to settle down on the big nights here!) Oh how I miss my iPhone4. It never really occurred to me just how much I relied on my phone to get by in life. Have I become one of those people who carry their lives in their pockets completely dependant on their smartphones?! Tragic…but true!

As for my job – the role wasn’t for me (very demanding and working ridiculously long hours) so I gave that up. Way too stressful for my liking. Im on a working holiday to have fun and live it up, not to be too absorbed in work that I lose sight of why Im actually here to begin with! So that leaves me back at square one. I will however, take this opportunity to escape all the mishaps that London has thrown at me and travel around Europe for a bit. I think I am in dire need of it!

On a brighter note, I have been able to acclimatise to the weather here yay! Either the weather is picking up or the excess meat I’ve accumulated through the Heathrow injection is working well keeping me insulated. I haven’t had to wear my thermals this whole week..thats major progress!

Oh I’ve managed to add a couple of more stats to my list…Italian and Portuguese! I love picking up a new language, even if it is just one single word that I can fluently pronounce. One of the beauties of staying at a hostel is meeting people from all walks of life. Initially, I dreaded the thought of living in a hostel until I was forced to stay in one. Admittedly, I’m glad things panned out the way they did as I would never have gotten the chance to meet such nice people who I’ve formed some great friendships with.

If I leave you with one thing, it’ll be “everything happens for a reason”. Just grab the bull by the horns and go with it!

Till next time…Outskies!
